Opening: 6-9pm, Friday March 16th, 6-9pm
Runs: March 16th – April 10th 2012
Abstract modernist painter Krista Harris’ rich color and complex texture are the subject of J GO Gallery’s March opening. Harris’ paintings feel as if they have been taken directly from nature– as if they are still lives of the essence and energy of plants and objects. Though, when you look at the paintings, there is decidedly nothing still about them. Harris brings a lively, percussive mark making to her work, as well as fields of color that rush her canvases like moods. J GO invites you to attend the artist reception Friday March 16th from 6-9. The show will hang through April 10th.
Truly abstract works, Harris’ paintings have evolved from a long career in which her paintings dealt primarily with the figure and landscape. Her love of drawing provided a strong foundation as she moved into non-objective work in 2006, and began to favor essence over appearance. Indeed, Harris’ work displays a clear love of line, with her large, rhythmic marks, wandering scrawls, and whimsical abstract notations. Though she works intuitively, Harris’ training in composition and color have clearly become second nature– her work displays a sophisticated balance of the various elements. The results are both exhilarating and beautiful.
Please join us for a reception with the artist Friday March 16th from 6-9pm at J GO Gallery, 408 Main Street, Park City, Utah.
